“Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God.” (1 John 4:1)
Lately I keep hearing the same worried question: “Is AI the Antichrist?” I understand the fear. When a machine can write, speak and create in ways we never imagined, the heart starts to wonder what it all means.
But when I turn to Scripture, I notice John does not tell us to be afraid. He tells us to test. He describes the spirit of antichrist as whatever denies Christ and draws hearts away from the truth. That spirit has been at work since the first century, long before any computer existed. It can hide in a tool, a system, a trend, or in our own pride. The tool itself is not the threat. What matters is what we let rule our hearts.

So here is the devotional question: what do I trust when I need answers? If I run to a screen before I run to prayer, something is out of order. If I let a voice think for me and stop searching the Word myself, I have drifted. Technology can help me, but it cannot save me, forgive me, or lead me home. Only Jesus does that.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.” (Proverbs 3:5)
Jesus gave us the best advice for uncertain times: “See that no one leads you astray.” (Matthew 24:4) He did not say to hide from the world. He said to stay awake, stay rooted, and stay close to Him. His Word is still a lamp for our feet, whatever the world is doing.
So, what do you turn to first when you’re anxious or confused?
Are you testing what you see or hear with Scripture?
Where can you use the tools you have to serve others and honour God?

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You that no invention, headline or fear is greater than You. Give me discernment to test every spirit, wisdom to use what I have for Your glory, and a heart that stays anchored in Your Word. Keep me from fear and from idols. Let my trust rest in You alone. Amen.
